Christmas bells

REPORT ON DIG MEETING HELD FRIDAY 26 NOVEMBER 2010

A few of our regular members were away, but we still managed a good muster for Friday’s meeting.  And yes, Helen, a few of us did add a Christmas touch!  Amongst the tinsel we had a flashing Santa hat and also a Christmas pudding.

Trevor managed the machine and we all looked at some interesting contributions to the “Shoes and Boots” album on Shutterfly, plus some brought in on flash drives.

Faststone

Following this David Blunt demonstrated two of the features of the program FastStone.   This excellent program is well worth having a look at.  And it is FREE.  In the program's Help section there is a 94 page tutorial which can be downloaded (and printed) if you wish to.

FastStone  David first showed us how to build a contact sheet of several photos and the different effects that could be used.

He followed this by showing us how easy it is to create a simple slide show.  Adding music to the slide show prompted a discussion on
different ways to get music onto your computer.

David finished his demo by showing us a couple of his slide shows……sunrises on Tahunanui beach and some really beautiful back country places where he has tramped……..and which, unfortunately many of us will never see!

Barry Doig then showed us some lovely Power Point shows of top photographs – we can never aspire to such heights, but we can all continue to get much enjoyment out of our own efforts

The final meeting for 2010 finished with a very nice afternoon tea and the usual social cuppa and chat.

My thanks to all those who provided help with the running of DIG during the year ……. the chair putter-outers, the tea ladies, the computer operators, and all of you for being part of it.

Best wishes for a peaceful and happy holiday season.
