REPORT ON DIG MEETING HELD FRIDAY 29 OCTOBER 2010
We had a small crowd at DIG for this meeting…….must be getting towards the end of the year and everyone has something else on….including Pat who was out and about on the harbour.
Helen managed to take a photo of the group at the lighthouse, from her balcony.

(Pat realised two ambitions….visit the lighthouse and also Haulashore Island)
Trevor showed the Shutterfly photos, plus some that had been brought in on flash drives. There were some very good photos of springtime and Miyazu Gardens. Well done to everyone who contributed. Keep those photos coming in!

Helen gave a talk and showed some examples on cropping photos. Some interesting facts were learnt and points were discussed.
Cropping Quite often cropping is just a matter of trimming the edges of an image, but being bold and tightly cropping mmages to focus on diefferent elements within an image can often result in very interesting results.
Things to consider when cropping:
- Duplicate your image always! Keep the original.
- Take your time when cropping. There are almost unlimited ways to crop an image and it is worth trying a few of them before settling on one.
- Cropping works best when you start with a fairly large image, otherwise you will notice the quality of your photo decreases.

We had a cuppa at the usual time and a few people had a go at cropping in the Learning Centre.
Next month is our last meeting for the year, so let’s all make an effort and come along. We will have a special afternoon tea and we want everyone to wear something Christmassy ……. bring your cameras and take some candid photos to mark the occasion.
Our theme for this month is Shoes and Boots so get your thinking caps on and your cameras out, plus let your imagination loose. Send you photos into Shutterfly to the album called ‘Shoes and Boots’ http://dignelson.shutterfly.com/904 or bring them on a flash drive to the meeting on 26 November.
(Thanks to Helen for this report)
